Australia ADHD Reform Pathways

Select your state or territory to find out what GPs can legally do now, what has changed, and what this means for you.

Important — before you read on
  • These reforms determine who is legally authorised to diagnose ADHD and prescribe stimulant medication. They do not guarantee that a GP will offer those services. Participation is voluntary, training requirements vary between states, and individual practices charge private fees that are not regulated.
  • There is currently no dedicated Medicare item number for comprehensive ADHD assessments anywhere in Australia. Ask about costs before you book.
  • Medicare rebates do not apply to 100% telehealth GP appointments unless you have seen that same clinic in person within the last 12 months, or you live in a very remote area.
  • Interstate telehealth prescriptions are only valid if the prescribing GP holds authority specific to your state.

Insights & Updates

ADHD coaching helped Leanne work with her brain, instead of against it.

She founded ADHD Works to help others do the same: embrace who they are, get tools that work for their brain, and finally feel understood.

We’re here to smash the stigma around neurodivergence - and to show the real difference self-acceptance can make.

After discovering she was also autistic, Leanne created the world’s first AuDHD coaching course. Today, ADHD Works has trained 500+ coaches globally, supporting people to empower others - and themselves.

Named National Specialist Coach of the Year, Leanne’s a five-time bestselling author, international speaker, and the founder of the UK’s first CPD-accredited ADHD coaching programme - working with companies like Disney and Google to change the narrative for good.
